DIY Streets co-presentation evening

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to come along to our co-presentation evening with Kings Heath Residents Forum and the City Council last night, it was certainly an impressive turnout! The room was packed and we had a very diverse and interesting discussion on how people feel about the emerging plans for the High Street and how they could be further developed and improved before they are presented to the Council later this month. The evening certainly highlighted again that the High Street presents some very complex issues but overall the feeling in the room was that people are keen to see changes really happen.

DIY Streets Co presentation evening with KH Residents Forum: 10th February 2015

The presentation on the project and the developing designs for the High Street can be viewed here, for anyone that was unable to make it along last night, or for those who would like a refresher on what was covered. Sustrans KH presentation – 2015.02.10

We have a great blogpost below by Marcus Belben (Hall Green Arts / Swan Corner Community Group) who recorded the discussions at the event and conducted some interviews with local residents afterwards, which gives a further insight into the discussions which took place. Thanks very much Marcus!  http://birminghamlives.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/diy-sustrans-on-our-high-street.html

We asked everyone who attended to fill out feedback forms with their comments, suggestions and ideas, we have started collating this and will make it available on the blog as soon as it is ready so people can get an update about the range of feedback we received after last night. This will help us to make further refinements and additions to the designs and recommendations for the High Street as they move into the final stages.

There is a drop off point for people to leave feedback forms from last night at Heathfield community centre and they will be picked up from the centre on Wednesday of next week, or alternatively any feedback can be emailed to jenny.barlow@sustrans.org.uk.  (Please note that there is a deadline of next Wednesday, 18th Feb for feedback as we need to collate it all and make any changes/ edits).
